Now Trending:  DIY Abortions.

In the wake of COVID-19 that has taken tens of thousands of lives, abortion providers have gotten even more aggressive in making abortion access as easy as receiving abortion pills right to their home.  They are feeding the on fear and uncertainty that drives a woman toward a decision to abort her child, especially during this unprecedented time of confusion in our world.

A Risk Evaluation and Mitigation Strategy (REMS) is a drug safety program that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) can require for certain medications with serious safety concerns to help ensure the benefits of the medication outweigh its risks.  There have been such restrictions in place for this dangerous drug, until now.

Various medical groups and activists are pushing for these regulations to be removed and so far have been successful in 13 states, including New York.  This in effect allows a woman to receive access to abortion pills with little or no supervision from physicians and is left alone to bear the consequences and risks on her own.

A recent New York Times article published on April 28, 2020, it tells a heartbreaking story of a mother of a 3-year-old who is faced with a decision to abort her second child.

“The telemedicine program that Ms. Dale participated in has been allowed to operate as a research study for several years under a special arrangement with the Food and Drug Administration. It allows women seeking abortions to have video consultations with certified doctors and then receive abortion pills by mail to take on their own.

Over the past year, the program, called TelAbortion, has expanded from serving five states to serving 13…. as the coronavirus crisis exploded. Not including those new states, about twice as many women had abortions through the program in March and April as in January and February.”

There is one bit of good news, though. According to Heartbeat International’s Abortion Pill Rescue Network, “the number of women attempting to reverse the effects of the abortion pill and save their babies’ lives has also doubled in March and April” of 2020.

Dr. William Lile, a Board-Certified OB/GYN physician (and our 2018 Banquet Speaker) serves on the Board of the Abortion Pill Rescue Network provides an explanation of how the Abortion Pill Reversal works.  Click this link to hear from Dr. Lile (4:39).

How are we responding to the increase in abortion pill requests at Soundview?  The good news is with our new marketing campaign using targeted Google Ads, we are intercepting several of these calls and are able to consult with a women seeking the abortion pill.   She is encouraged to come in for a pregnancy test and sonogram to confirm her pregnancy, but if she has already taken the abortion pill, she will be immediately directed to the APR Hotline on our website and then invited to come in for a sonogram to see if the pregnancy is still viable.

Yes, there are happy endings.  Please watch this beautiful story of how this young woman had a second chance to choose life for her baby.

We hope you are encouraged that in the midst of such darkness that God is still in control and we at Soundview are shining His light into women’s hearts and showing them the miracle of life and helping them choose life for their babies.
